Love going for simple outfits like this whenever I'm feeling lazy. A simple top paired with a great fitting pants can't go wrong.

birthday wishlist

My birthday is coming up pretty soon and since I have already gifted myself something cool and have dropped some cash at the Zara sale (I just couldn't resist! So many awesome pieces from last season. I will show you soon!) last weekend, my birthday wishlist is actually very short and simple.

Aside from a good, ole, dependable bag, I am in love with this new fragrance from Guerlain. Became interested when I noticed the graphic - I love it! When the fragrance launched in Takashimaya, they were handing out small vials for free. When it comes to fragrance, I have a sensitive nose and a super strong one gives me a headache. But this has a very light floral scent.

the haze

You might have heard of the nasty haze that enveloped the usually pollution-free Singapore a few weeks ago. During this time, the Pollution Standard Index (PSI) hit 400, the highest ever in years. For context, Singapore's normal PSI is in the 40s. 

Dressing during this time is the last thing in my mind because there was this constant feeling of a black film of dust enveloping you. The haze also caused nose & eye irritation (among other things). An N95 mask became the fashion it item. :P

I ran out of the N95 so I had to make-do with this surgical mask. 

 

But, you know, it's ~safe indoors. :)

Thanks to Spotify, I've discovered this band called Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - a traveling minstrel of musicians. Aside from the music, I am particularly in love with the look and feel of this video for one of my favourite tracks of theirs called "Home". (Expect a music and me feature soon!)

The Great Singapore Sale is now on! What awesome bargains have you scored from GSS? Here are some stuff I picked up from the month. Some of them I scored from the GSS bargain bins. :)

Clockwise: Greece men's tee from Pull & Bear (because I love boyfriend tees just as much as I love Greece!), another boyfriend top from New Look, snake print loose tank from H&M - not on sale but priced at $7.90!, summer print tank from Cotton On and horse print boyfriend tee both on sale for $10!

Not on sale but gold studs, gold studs! Also, with the low heels, I can comfortably wear them everyday. Definitely my favourite buy of the month.

Fahrenheit 451 from Prologue
Picked this up at 20% off. I always like to drop by Prologue at the top floor of ION Orchard as the collection may not be as huge as Kinokuniya's but they do have a decent amount of classics and often have promos. I have also been lately drawn to dystopian literature and trying to build a small library. Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale is so far the best book I've read this year and I picked up Brave New World from another one of Prologue's sales.

I've been on the lookout for a new Friday bag. You see, from Mondays to Thursdays, I head off to the gym after work so I have to bring with me my big tote to lug my gym clothes with. But Friday is my day off and so I need a smallish bag that can fit essentials like wallet and mobile but also my book and diary (yes, I still have a physical diary!). 

Here are a few that caught my eye:

1. Washed metallic slouch tote - SGD43.33 from Asos

I love that it is in classic black and the soft leather that makes it look lightweight and lots of pockets!

2.  Patterned messenger bag - SGD39.90 from H&M

 I always have a soft spot for messenger bags - no drama, just sling them over your shoulders and you have free hands! And the aztec print is so perfect for summer.

3. Soft shopper tote - SGD89.90 from Zara

Love this color (taupe) and the soft leather. (I'm really partial to slouchy leather.) The only problem is no pockets.

Definitely one of my favourite trends this summer is the printed leggings. As I mentioned here, I am crushing on the Stradivarius printed leggings at the moment. I've been pretty much living in these leggings but realized I haven't showed them off here at the blog yet. (I went and picked up another pair which I will share with you soon.) 

I love pairing them with ankle boots. 

 

Paired with a simple white tee and topped off with a denim shirt.


Printed leggings are a colorful way we can embrace the summer. Fun and comfy enough to beat the summer heat.
