beauty finds

Some of latest discoveries:

beauty_bb
1. Clean Face Oil free BB cream from The Face Shop and 2. 24/7 Glide-on eye pencil in Perversion from Urban Decay

I was using another BB cream from The Face Shop but noticed that it makes my face even more oily and I literally feel like my face is melting at the end of the day. So decided to try this BB cream from the Clean Face line. (I also use Clean Face extra mild toner which my skin is loving!) I've been using this for 2 weeks now and it gives my skin a much lighter, more breathable feeling. As a bonus, it has a lovely mild non-make-up-ey smell. :P

The eye pencil was an impulsive buy as Sephora. As the name suggests glide-on doesn't leave nasty clumps when applying or after wearing it for a while. Loving how a black kohl produces that instant drama!

i'm blooming

Remember this? I have been using Etude's I'm Blooming Anti-Sebum face mist for a few weeks now and I'm lovin' it.

I spray once after I wear all my make up in the morning (as above) and once again in the afternoon. Being out in the sun at lunch, my face had a tendency to melt but with this, it feels much less oily and icky. I also leaves a cooling sensation after spray with a powdery finish so I don't even need to re-touch. This is definitely a little piece of heaven in a bottle.

on beauty

Great new skincare finds that I wanted to share with you.

Behold my Miracle 3! From L to R: Clean Face Tea Tree Oil Mild Toner from The Face Shop even the scent is mild and so good for my skin. For Beloved One Whitening Vitamin C Essence. At first I was iffy to try a product with a cheesy name like dut. But one day, I found myself in Sephora searching for a replacement to Face Shop's White Face Post-acne serum which they discontinued. I was initially looking at Philosophy but the Sephora lady suggested this to me. After one month, I noticed it's effects - my skin felt so soft and more importantly, I'm starting to see that post-acne spots are slowly but surely fading. But, it's more than just fading post-acne scars but also focusing on evening out the skin tone. My skin just loves this! Finally, For Beloved One Sunscreen. Being exposed to the harsh tropical sun can take its toll. ( This baby is partly responsible for the slow even-ing out of my skin tone.)

Etude House's I'm Blooming Sebum Control Mist. I just picked this up so I will keep you updated how effective this is. My skin is oily and being exposed to this hot weather is not doing it any favors. In the middle of the day, I literally feel my face melting (even though I don't really put on piles of make up!). While I am tempted to just wash my face in the middle of the day, it's not always possible and this face mist claims to offer instant cooling and leaving a powdery finish after spray. Heard some good things about this in beauty blogs so hopefully this will work for me too.

Finally, my little indulgence is this YSL Lip Gloss. I normally just wears it on its own which leaves the lips with a soft, glossy finish. My new favorite!

don't leave home without

As my first beauty post, let me share my two best beauty finds as of late.

beauty
Body Shop's Brazil Nut Define & No Frizz cream is a blessing. I apply Kerastase's Leave-on Olio curl conditioner and Schwarkopf's hair buff to towel-dried hair. The problem though is that after my hair air-dries, it tends to frizz up. This product is so awesome as it can tame the frizz and makes my hair so smooth and shiny. Also works best with dry hair.

The hand lotion is from Face Shop (I'm a big fan of their products). I'm an impulsive alcohol applier (um, that is isoprophyl alcohol). Between that and the office air-con, my hands tend to dry up. I swear by this - for baby-soft skin.

beauty post: breakouts 911

I've said this before but let me say it again. The best thing about being in my 30s is that my skin is less prone to breakouts (or maybe I've just started using better skincare products) but with an oily T-zone and life's little stresses, it can't be helped that my skin breaks out occasionally.

I was suffering from crazy breakouts this weekend so I was glad I always keep my little secret in the form of The Faceshop Tea Tree & Bergamot mask in my stash. I woke up this morning and my skin is looking much better - even the zit on my cheek threatening to be full-blown acne has vanished. (I swear this is not a testimonial nor an ad. I just really love this product!) I've been a fan of the Faceshop products for the past 2 years and using their face masks has been a part of my skin regimen.

I use a mix of different types:

Since I am not getting any younger, I use this collagen to rejuvenate my skin. I also alternate this with Vitamin C to keep the skin looking fresh and the Aloe to clear the skin and of course the aforementioned Tea Tree & Bergamot to clear skin breakouts.

It is recommended that you keep this on for 20 to 30 minutes but for me, I just keep it on even as long as an hour.

In my years of experimenting with skincare products, I've reached one conclusion that they all work differently for each person, even for people with similar skin types the effects are varied. So use with caution.
