an oldie but goodie

This is an old dress I picked up from H&M in 2010. Because of it's looseness, it's so comfortable to step into. For awhile, this was my go-to dress.

I've recently dug it up out of my depths of my closet and have been wearing it almost regularly. I usually wear it with black leggings underneath which sort of gives it an off-duty ballerina vibe.

inspiration

ref_1
I saw this Fall look featured on Refinery 29 and I thought it's a great idea (except for the shoes. No thanks!) on mixing pencil skirts with hoodie and parka.

While I enjoy Singapore weather, it's images like this that makes me sometimes wish that we enjoyed four seasons to give us opportunities to experiment with layering.

While I was in Kos last Winter, I was drawn to the casual Winter looks sported by the teenage boys - hoodies layered with parka or leather outerwear. I loved the volume and mix of textures they created.

We can still use such inspiration by pairing sporty top with a dressier skirt or topping a pencil skirt, loose blouse with a thin parka.

if i were

Since it's the fashion month of September, I could totally wear this at a Fashion Week show.

I just fell in love with this top the moment I saw it. I love the subtle Oriental print and these bell sleeves are awesome.

Showing you how flouncy the sleeves are. The printed pants are eye-catching and pairs so perfectly with black.

i'm blooming

Remember this? I have been using Etude's I'm Blooming Anti-Sebum face mist for a few weeks now and I'm lovin' it.

I spray once after I wear all my make up in the morning (as above) and once again in the afternoon. Being out in the sun at lunch, my face had a tendency to melt but with this, it feels much less oily and icky. I also leaves a cooling sensation after spray with a powdery finish so I don't even need to re-touch. This is definitely a little piece of heaven in a bottle.

the midi

I'm sure you've probably seen Zara's Fall Lookbook by now. I'm loving Fall's new length - the midi - seen from everything to leather balloon skirts to my favorite, the pencil skirt.

Totally reminds me of this old mustard number gifted by Cuz that I tried out here

I haven't worn this in awhile but I think it's time to dig out of the closet. But taking cue from Zara, I might lose the too long, clunky top and pair with a simple tank and sandals.

music and me: edward sharpe and the magnetic zeros

It's the return of Music and Me. I've been discovering a lot of great new music lately since Spotify has launched in Singapore. My best discovery are Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, an indie-folk 12-man band that includes a infuses gospel and folk with melodious and sing-along inducing harmony. They give off a very travelling minstrel vibe.

The band members themselves have very interesting fashion sense.

The group's frontman, Alex Ebert with his signature Jesus locks, testament beard and loose white caftan and pants combo. Jade, the female vocalist favors 50s style flowy dresses.

Home, my favorite, reminds me of hot summer days, running around the beach eating watermelons and my favorite boy (who's celebrating his birthday today.) "Anywhere we go is home".

What better way to recall those summer days but with long, flowy white dresses! Here's my interpretation of Edward Sharpe's music.
