here i go again

lace_3
Have to run off to the airport in an hour for my cousin's wedding and extended to a summer holiday. But first, I wanted to share a few pictures.
I've mentioned before that I have been looking for a lace-y white dress or skirt and this is the exact look I had in mind in terms of styling the skirt - paired  with something "rougher" like my ever-dependable utility vest.

lace_4
It's a shame the camera can't capture the silver details of the skirt.

lace_1
I just love the contrast of the delicate lace with the blue-collar staple of utility vest.

Since I am travelling home right smack in the middle of summer, I've packed with me a lot of light and comfy garments - most you have seen here before but hopefully I'll have time to squeeze in some outfit shots.

Have a good weekend!

some old photos

I've been meaning to share these pics that my cousin took on our Mother-Daughter day spent pigging out in Tagaytay in January. Just never got around to it. Sharing my two favorite photos. (Thanks Cuz for sharing the pics!)

Enjoying the yummy risotto at lunch in Buon Giorno.

Then, we hied off to Breakfast at Antonio's for dessert (coffee and pancakes). I loved the interior, especially the beautiful tiled floor and these awesome door. My cousin Karen and I couldn't resist the photo-op.

just in: lace skirt

hmskirt_3
I've been looking for a lace-y skirt for awhile now and I finally found the perfect pair with a perfect price ($24.90!) at H&M. I love the design, especially the silver details.

hmskirt_2
I took the no-brainer way and paired it with a loose black button-down. What I really want to do is pair this with a light colored top - maybe it's time to stop ignoring pastels and mint - with my utility vest, a parka or my leather gilet.

I was wearing: H&M skirt, button-down top from Cotton On, Charles & Keith shoes.

the cap

I thought the cool and rainy weather was the perfect opportunity to try out a new trend - the baseball cap. Ha!

cap_4
Instead of the usual sporty outfits, the new trend pairs this sports staple with more classic pieces. I thought I'd try and pair it with a knit.

cap_5
Looks who's lookin' a wee bit hip hop? :P

cap_2
The cap does add a different dimension to the whole look. I mean, check out how it looks without it.
I think next time I'll try it with a pair of skinny pants and heels.

I was wearing: Pull & Bear pleated denim, navy knit from SM Surplus (Manila), Converse chucks, baseball cap from Puma.

perfection

The statuesque Cate Blanchett is Harper's Bazaar UK's covergirl for April 2012. She appears on two gorgeous covers - minimal vs opulent.

Image from Harper's Bazaar UK site

While I think she looks absolutely stunning in both, I think she is absolute perfection on the minimalist cover. I love the strong shouldered tuxedo vest with the single chunky silver necklace, the perfect hair and make-up. This minimal styling is also close to my own style of strong masculine aesthetic. There's something very sexy and confident about this look and this is what I will always aspire to be.

the tuck

tuck_2
I tried the partial tuck that I have first seen on Elin Kling. I'm using this slouchy denim shirt and next time, I am thinking of using a more structured shirt to see what the effect will be.

tuck_3
The trick is to everything un-tuck except for half the shirt front. This also works best with a pair of skinny pants or jeans.

tuck_1
Loving the fit of these pants. Works well with so many looks.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I am wearing: denim shirt from Pull & Bear, skinny pants from Tangs Department Store, Charles & Keith pumps.

bell bottoms

Just a quick post. Yesterday, I wore my pair of flared jeans again. Instantly, they make my legs look miles loooong. :)
bellbottoms_2
Paired with my favorite loose hanging tee for an oh-so-casual vibe.

bellbottoms_1
I love the width of this particular pair. I sometimes see a pair with the flared part so wide that you don't see the shoes anymore. I prefer this where you can still see the platforms peeking under the hem.

I was wearing: Flared jeans from People Are People (Manila), H&M polka dot top, platform shoes from Romwe.

spring inspiration

Haven't been to H&M in awhile so I dropped by over the weekend to check out what's new in-store. I picked a cool new pencil skirt (I know, again!) which I will show you in a look soon. :)

I browsed through a copy of the Spring/Summer look book that they were handing out and let me share with you my favorite styling.
h&mlook_1
I love love this. Spring is all about floral print and I love this pair of cropped pants (great price to at $24.90). Incidentally, Isabel Marant's F/W2012 had a lot of cropped pants walking down the runway. I love that the print was balanced out with the metallic shirt. Just perfection.

h&mlook_2
We saw a lot of white-on-white for Winter but seems like this trend is spilling over to Spring. I love the white leather gilet, especially the strong shoulders. If I remember correctly, these are also quite reasonably priced at $56.

The look book also featured the upcoming Marni at H&M collection and I am sad to say that the price point is still a bit much for me. The cool thing is, while most of us may not get out hands on these coveted items come March 8th, H&M has a lot of cool stuff from their own label also on offer. Seriously, I don't know how I lived before H&M opened in Singapore. :P

working girl

On Monday, I thought I'd try a little 80s inspired styling.
I came up with this:
workinggirl_1
Zebra print dress cinched with bright yellow plastic belt, which reminds me a little bit of this one from YSL.
Then, as I was about to step out, I realized that the rainy weather wasn't about to let up anytime soon and since times like these the office becomes a Siberia, I decided against bare legs.
workinggirl_3
I think it was a great idea. I feel the opaque tights is just the perfect way to complete this look.

workinggirl_2
Got the belt at a night market in Bangkok back in 2007. Haven't worn it much but I think it goes so well with neutrals - just the perfect pop of color.

I was wearing: Apple and Eve (Manila) zebra print dress, Bangkok belt, opaque tights from Marks and Spencer, Charles & Keith shoes.

mustard

mustard_1
I think I am addicted to skirts nowadays. I just love how a pair of pencil skirt can elongate my legs. (Hey, I need all the help I can get!)

mustard_2
Instead of a printed top, decided to pair this mustard skirt with my navy shirt.

mustard_3
No question about it, a pencil skirt MUST be paired with heels. This time, instead of my usual pumps, went with my wedge sandals.

I was wearing: Midi skirt gifted, navy blouse from Divisoria (Manila), Sapato Manila wedge sandals.

when summer beckons

Weather has been pretty crazy in Singapore lately - one minute it's cool and wet then the following day, the sun is blazing hot. This keeps me on my toes as I can't always depend on to wear the outfit that I have planned the night before.

I wore this summer outfit on one of those warm days
summer_4
On extremely hot days, I gravitate towards balloon skirts and loose tops.

summer_2
Tried the partial tuck with the loose top.

summer_1

I was wearing: Peter Pan collared top from Kiss Jane, H&M skirt, Sapato Manila color block wedges.
